Frequently Asked Questions
What is sweat equity?
Sweat equity is the investment of time and labor that partner families make in building their homes and the homes of others. This includes construction work, attending classes, and other activities that help families prepare for homeownership.
How are homes financed?
Habitat homes are sold at no profit with 0% interest mortgages. Monthly mortgage payments are kept affordable and go into a revolving fund to help build more homes.
How long does the process take?
The timeline varies, but families should expect the process from application to moving in to take 1-2 years or more, depending on various factors.
