REMEMBERING PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER
1924 - 2024
President Jimmy Carter was one of Habitat for Humanity's most dedicated volunteers and ambassadors. His commitment to our mission helped transform Habitat from a small organization into a global movement.
A Legacy of Service
Since 1984, President Carter and his wife Rosalynn volunteered their time and energy to Habitat for Humanity. Through the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, they helped build, renovate, and repair more than 4,300 homes in 14 countries.
President Carter's hands-on approach inspired millions of volunteers to pick up hammers and help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
"We have become small players in an exciting global effort to alleviate the curse of homelessness. With your help, we can continue to make a difference." - President Jimmy Carter
Impact on Montgomery
President Carter's vision and leadership helped strengthen Habitat affiliates across the country, including right here in Montgomery. His example continues to inspire our volunteers, donors, and partner families as we work to build a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
